Funding Pathways

There are a number of ways you can access and fund counselling at NewPsych.

Medicare

With a referral from your GP or Specialist, you may be eligible to access a Medicare rebate for psychology services. NewPsych is able to process Medicare rebates for those presenting under Mental Health Treatment Plans, Eating Disorder Treatment and Management Plans, or Chronic Disease Management Plans. These plans will need to be dated on or before the date of your session with NewPsych to claim, however you do not need to have the plan in place to book your first appointment.

If you are planning to see your doctor for a referral, please let them know when booking that you are looking at a referral for psychology, as they may need to allocate a long appointment for you or see you in person.

Private

You can choose to access sessions privately either at the full fee or claim sessions through your private health insurance. Whilst NewPsych do not have HICAPS at our practice, we provide an emailed or paper receipt to take to your health insurance provider to claim.

Please note, each health fund is different and you will need to contact them to ensure your coverage. If you are planning to claim sessions through your health fund, please let our team know when you make the appointment.

National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS)

NewPsych are a registered NDIS provider and offer capacity building psychological services through Improved Daily Living Skills and Core Supports funding. Contact your Local Area Coordinator to learn more about accessing the NDIS or requesting psychology funding in your NDIS Plan.

We have a number of clinicians with expertise in supporting people who are impacted by disability. Contact our intake officer to explore who in our team may be best suited to providing you psychology services through the NDIS. See our NDIS page to learn more.

Workers Compensation & Insurance

NewPsych have a number of registered SIRA providers able to work with Workers Compensation and Insurance claims. To book your initial consult at NewPsych Psychologists, you will need to have written approval from your insurer. Our team will then be able to link you with the best suited psychologist.

Employee Assistance Program (EAP)

NewPsych deliver EAP services for a large number of Australian businesses. An EAP allows employees and their families to quickly and easily connect with wellbeing support. See our EAP page to learn more.
